News update for the 49er regatta "Travemünder Woche", held from 26.07.-31.07.2011 :
Simultaniously to the first 49er YOUTH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP for all sailors under 23 a normal series for ALL sailors will be held with separat scoring. Means ALL sailors are invited to take part at "Travemünder Woche" and to enter this competition soonest.
The town Travemünde is located at the river "Trave" and the "Lübecker Bucht" (Eastern Baltic). The competition is embedded into the folk festival directly into town. Sailors can get into direct contact with guests of Travemünde and for sure chip shops and event stages are just around the corner.
Sailing on the "Lübecker Bucht" may be a bit less choppy than Kiel and so 2000 participants form various classes -this year three world and six european championships are held in this event- are expected. On shore this week attracs more than 1 million spectators having a great view on the race courses near to the shore.
Participants arriving with tent or mobile home can choose between the parking lot directly in the centre or more quiet on the peninsula "Priwall" opposite of town. A free ferry service for sailors is offered (takes 3 minutes to cross the river "Trave").
Looking forward seeing you in Travemünde,
have fun
